Retail figures, and the oil industry with the death of the Saudi king

Taking a look at the stories coming out of the world of business is Simon Neville, retail correspondent for the Evening Standard.

This years first retail figures

The Office of National Statistics is to release the retail figures for this year.

It is thought that there will be a fall in sales, as last year’s quarter had high retail sales because of shopping sales such as Black Friday.


Premiere Food fall in sales

The food company has seen a fall in sales of 3.4 per cent. The company is the supplier of big food brands like Mr. Kipling and Bisto.

The company released a statement saying:

‘We plan to continue strengthening our supply relationships and based on mutual respect.”


Saudi King dies

With Saudi Arabia producing much of the world’s crude oil, this is speculation about whether the new king will make changes to the price of oil.

So far there has bee a slight change, with each barrel selling at $0.92.
