Live at the Selma Premiere

We were live from the premiere of the new movie Selma in London’s Leicester Square.

The film tackles the subject of the non-violent marches headed by Martin Luther King in the small rural Alabaman town of Selma.

The historic demonstrations, known as the Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches, were a result of black American citizens fighting for their constitutional rights to vote in defiance of racial segregation.

David Oyelowo gives a gripping performance playing Martin Luther King Jr, the man behind the marches.

Singer, Ella Eyre was on the red carpet. she says that the "new generations should know this story."

The Director, Ava DuVernay says she was "thrilled" to be in London and speaks on how she has a new production in store with the star of Selma, David Oyelowo.

It seems that there was a lot of appreciation for the story they were portraying, as well as one another as actor Colman Domingo explains.

So far the film has been nominated for the Best Picture Golden Globe, and has already won the Critic’s Choice Movie Award for Best Song, Glory by John Legend.
