Police investigating the shooting of a man in North London

An investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission has begun after a man was shot by police in north London at the weekend.

Officers were called to a tower block on Saturday night after reports of a man firing a gun from a balcony. 

A 48-year-old man was shot at Franklin House in West Hendon.

Neighbours described the situation as ‘terrifying’ when gunshots were heard.

The man who was shot is currently in hospital with injuries, however police have confirmed his condition is not life threatening.

A firearms officer also suffered injuries, however they have now been discharged from hospital.
