Community projects vie for slice of mayor's £730k crowdfunded pie

The latest round of the Civic Crowdfunding Initiative has been launched.

The idea behind the scheme is that anyone is allowed to propose a project with community benefit and apply for crowdfunding, chosen schemes will then see their donations matched up to the value of £20,000 by the mayor's office.

The launch took place at the PEER Gallery in Hoxton, which will benefit from £19,000 for renovations on its shop front from Boris Johnson's scheme.

London Live spoke to Daniel Moylan, Chairman of the Mayor's Design Advisory Group and Chris Gourlay the founder of crowdfunding site Spacehive, which specialises in raising money for public projects.
