It was a big day for Walthamstow Village as judges from the Britain in Bloom competition arrived in E17 to assess the flowerbeds, allotments and planters.
The area is representing the capital in the Urban Community catergory of the nationwide contest.
Walthamstow Village is known for its old-fashioned charm and features a 12th century church, original timber framed houses, vintage lamposts and one of the oldest post boxes in London.
It has been awarded gold five times in the past at the local stage of the competition - London In Bloom.
