UK's largest festival of South Asia

The UK's largest festival inspired by South Asian Culture has returned to the Southbank Centre.

Alchemy is also the biggest celebration of its kind outside of India.

Now in its 8th year, the 11-day event features a lineup of work from seven different countries: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and the UK.

Highlights this year include Ravi Shankar's only opera, Sukanya, said to be a love letter to his wife who bears the same name. Much talked about Indian indie-pop duo Parekh and Singh are also performing.

Alchemy 2017 runs from 19 – 29 May.
