Subsidised food market opens in New Addington

A subsidised market, said to be London's first combined welfare and food club, has opened in Croydon.

The joint council and charity centre will give low income families and unemployed people from two parts of the borough, access to affordable fresh goods, and support services.

The Food shop offers residents of Fieldway the opportunity to reduce their food shopping bill by paying £3.50 a week for £15-£20 worth of grocery shopping.
