Veronica Bird on 35 years as a Prison Officer

Former Prison Governor Veronica Bird has released an autobiography about her 35-year career inside some of London's toughest prisons.

The ex-officer returned to Pentonville Prison, where she trained, to launch the book.

Over the years she's been responsible for some of the UK's most dangerous and notorious prisoners.

Veronica spoke to London Live News about some of the highlights of her time career, and how prisons have changed since she first stepped inside 50 years ago.

The book, 'Veronica's Bird: Thirty-five years inside as a female prison officer' is available to buy now.
