From food waste to renewable energy

he UK's first biomethane gas plant has opened in east London - turning waste food into a renewable energy source for the captial.

The £32 million site is already providing power for cooking and heating, and is said to have the potential to prevent the equivalent of more the 12,000 double-decker buses in waste from ending up in landfill sites.
