Politicians meet to tackle London's violent crime

Politicians and councillors from across political parties gathered at City Hall today for a summit on tackling violence on London's streets.

They were briefed by the Mayor and the Met Police commissioner about the action being taken to combat the recent spate of attacks which has led to more than 50 deaths in gun and knife attacks in the capital since the start of this year.

Current action includes a violent crime taskforce which Sadiq Khan insists is not a return to indiscriminate stop and search tactics.
