Ornate Abbey Mills pumping station celebrates 150 years

Today marks the 150th Anniversary of one of London's grandest sewage pumping stations. Abbey Mills in East London was built during the victorian era, as an above ground tribute to Sir Joseph Bazalgette - the enginer behind the capital's sewer network. The building is now being restored, before being opened to the public.
