Occupation of a community garden

A number of people have occupied a community garden in Deptford over plans to build new homes on it. Campaigners say Lewisham Council's proposal will destroy dozens of trees and a vital local green space.

Lewisham council had this to say in response-

The illegal occupation by the Tidemill garden group is on the site where desperately-needed social and affordable housing will be built. The use of the garden was on an agreed temporary basis and on the clear understanding that the site would be vacated once the development was ready to go ahead. We are seeking court approval to end the group's illegal occupation of the site.
