Beer tax puts pubs at risk of closure

A rise in the cost of beer could lead to the closure of hundreds of pubs in the capital.

The warning comes as concerns are raised over the possibility that the Chancellor could announce a rise beer duty by 3.4% in his Autumn statement in coming weeks.

A forecast released today by Britian's Beer Alliance says as many as 457 pubs could face closure within the next five years.
