Far more children to adopt than families willing to take them

The launch of National Adoption Week comes with a warning that the number of children in London, waiting for a new family, outnumbers those prepared to adopt by 2 to one.

The official stats show that nationally, more than a thousand children are at risk of missing out on a stable family environment.

Dr Carol Homden is the Chief Executive of the children's charity Coram.
