The lights are up in Oxford Street which means Christmas shopping season has, whether you like it or not, officially started.

Recent reports have focused on how the High Street is struggling in the face of rising rates and the competition from the internet.

However new research has shown that shoppers are continuing to visit their local high street, as there are some things that cannot be easily sourced online.

The study from GlobalData, was conducted ahead of Small Business Saturday the writer and presenter Dawn O'Porter told us about it.

Small Business Saturday takes place on the 1st December.
