Londoners urged to donate Blood in the run up to Christmas

The NHS says it has more than 5,400 unfilled appointments over the weeks before Christmas, and that as people get busier, many more fail to turn up to donate - putting lives at risk.

It says tens of thousands of people will need transfusions over the festive period, from cancer patients, to those involved in serious accidents.
