44% of London renters are in unaffordable housing

It's claimed close to half of London's renters are currently facing unaffordable housing costs.

That's the assessment by the Affordable Housing Commission, which says close to a million tenants here are spending at least a third of their income on rent, the commission's definition of unaffordable.

It's the highest percentage in the country, and according to the man who chairs the group, Lord Richard Best, one which gets worse when low incomes are taken into account.
