BP Portrait Award 2019

The winner of this year's BP Portrait Award has been announced at the National Portrait Gallery.

Charlie Schaffer's painting captured his close friend wearing a winter coat.

It was selected from more than two and half thousand submissions to take the leading art prize, and came with a £35,000 cheque. 

The shortlisted submissions will be on show until October.
