Prisoner escape re-enactments at The Tower of London this Summer

The Tower of London is staging a re-enactment of one of its most famous prisoner escapes this Summer.

In 1597, John Gerard - a Catholic priest - abseiled down the Salt Tower after being tortured.

The re-enactment is part of a series of events giving families a chance to step into the shoes of 17th century prisoners.

Re-enactments of John Gerard's escape can be seen at The Tower of London till the 31st August.
