Audi driver killed after crash with bus named
5th June 2014

A man killed in a crash between a car and a bus in Hackney has been named as Delano Moore.

The 25-year-old died after the Audi A4 he was driving collided with a Route N38 bus in Lea Bridge Road in Clapton.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the junction with Essex Wharf at 2.20am yesterday.

Delano was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another passenger was taken to an east London hospital where his condition is described as critical.

Two others aged in their 20's had to be cut free from the back of the car and suffered serious injuries.

Ambulance crews also treated 10 passengers on the bus, which was travelling towards Whipps Cross.

The bus driver reportedly told a colleague the cars had been racing at speeds between 90mph and 110mph — and the colleague then texted a description to other bus drivers.

Scotland Yard refused to comment officially, saying only : “It is believed that the car was travelling with or closely behind another vehicle along Lea Bridge Road. The driver of this second vehicle may be a vital witness and is urged to contact police.”The blue Audi is thought to have been driving on the wrong side of the road when it hit the bus.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath is investigating. Enquiries continue and no arrests have been made.
