Calls for BSL interpreter to sign future PM’s first speech

With the general election less than two weeks away, one charity is calling on whoever the Prime Minister is come 5th July to give their first speech outside number 10 with a British Sign Language interpreter.

The Royal National Institute for Deaf People have sent letters to the two main parties after having already been told by Downing Street in the Spring, the Prime Minister would start having a BSL interpreter by their side when they would address the nation – this is yet to happen.

London Live has been speaking to Michael from the charity about the importance of the issue.
