East London A&E doctor joins NHS vaccine race
An East London Accident and Emergency doctor who appears in a new NHS campaign urging 16 and 17-year-olds to take up the offer of a vaccine, says young people need to realise they are at risk of serious illness from Covid-19.
Although the majority of young adults only suffer mild symptoms with the virus, Dr Emeka Okorocha says he has had to send patients in their teens and 20s to intensive care units.
Dr Emeka says he also believes that young people wanting to attend mass events like festivals, should be double vaccinated, to keep themselves and their families safe.
More than 4,000 Covid cases could have links to several recent festivals – including the surfing event Boardmasters in Cornwall.
