‘It was hostile’: Former Met Officer uncovers ‘toxic’ culture of the force in new book

The MacPherson Report and Casey Review, both published in the last 18 months, display racist, sexist, homophobic treatment of Met officers and the public was commonplace.

Well a new book ‘Off the Beat’ written by former Superintendent Nusrit Mehtab is throwing further fuel to the fire.

As a Muslim women of Pakistani heritage she says she was subject to constant harassment and bigotry, frequently witnessing other officers face a similar fate.

Helena has been speaking to her about why she’s decided to share her story.
