Man dressed as policeman steals from elderly men
6th August 2014

Police have asked the public of Tower Hamlets to stay vigilant when opening the door to unexpected callers after a man dressed in a policeman’s uniform burgled an elderly home.

The two men in their 80’s opened the door to a man aged between 45 - 55-years-old who was wearing a navy blue jumper with the word police written on it in white.

After searching several rooms, he mentioned he could install CCTV and asked to see their money.  After handing their cash over freely, the man left with a quantity of money.

Tower Hamlets police have reminded the public that police officers always carry identification and will show their warrant cards to the public.
