Crafty Londoners to present Angelina Jolie with huge knitted 'solidarity quilt'

Crafty women will be presenting Hollywood star Angelina Jolie and Foreign Secretary William Hague with a huge blanket knitted by dozens of women to show their solidarity to end sexual violence in war zones. 

The 'solidarity quilt', which took members of the Shoreditch Sisters WI five months to complete, will go on display at the Excel centre today as part of the Ending Sexual Violence in Conflict Summit. 

The Maleificent star is hosting the event alongside MP William Hague will have about 150 countries attending with their foreign ministers as well as hundreds of doctors, lawyers, criminologists, people from the military and charities involved with this issue. 

More than 400 knitted squares have been used to make the blanket, which is three meters squared. 

Smaller blankets have also been made which will be given to Jolie.

The event will run from today until Friday.
