Increase in ‘hygiene poverty’ needs government attention, says charity

According to latest research, 80% of school staff believe there has been an increase in “hygiene poverty” issues in their school in the last year.

Many have seen a rise in pupils arriving to school with dirty uniforms, unwashed hair, or unclean teeth – which has also led to children repeatedly missing school.

Ruth Brock, who is CEO of The Hygiene Bank, has been campaigning the government’s Child Poverty Taskforce to urgently address the issue as part of the Clean Up Child Hygiene Poverty campaign.
