Islington’s ‘world-renowned’ organ in need of urgent repair
Union Chapel in Islington, houses one of the most world-renowned pipe organs.
It was custom built specifically for the chapel in 1877 by Henry Willis, who also built the organs at St Pauls Cathedral and the Royal Albert hall.
Despite its fame in the world of pipe organs, it’s in need of urgent repair.
But repairing something that’s pretty much the size of a church wall, is not on the same level as re-tuning a piano, as Simon Anderson found out.
Donations to the Union Chapel pipe organ repair fund can be made on their website: unionchapel.org.uk
