London Live Reports: Families oppose move of London specialist child cancer treatment to new location

The NHS is moving its specialist child cancer treatment from its current home at The Royal Marsden in Sutton to either St George’s Hospital or the Children’s Evelina.

It’s in line with a specification change meaning the special treatment has to be on the same site as a level 3 paediatric intensive care unit.

A public consultation is currently underway for patients and families to voice their needs and concerns.

But some families oppose the move altogether.

The Hear The Marsden Kids campaign say neither option will benefit children in need of care and at a cost of 40 million pounds, believe it isn’t a necessary expense.

London Live’s Henry Thomas-Aldridge has this report.
