The lockdown idea which became a Mayor’s prize winner

A lockdown entrepreneur has been awarded a £15,000 grant from the Mayor’s Green Deal fund given to companies who can provide a more sustainable way of life.

Laura Harnett set up a household essentials company in November last year, after realising it was difficult to find more environmentally friendly cleaning products.

It’s estimated that 1,000 kitchen sponges made predominantly from plastic are thrown away every minute

Called Seep, Laura’s firm is now hoping to bring a range of plastic-free and compostable goods to a wider market.
