A Boy With Two Hearts at the National Theatre
On show at the National Theatre this month is a play based on the true story of an Afghan family forced to flee their homeland in 2000.
The Amiri family escaped from the city of Herat after mother Fariba spoke up against the Taliban.
Their journey was perilous, and made even more difficult as a result of son Hussein’s life-threatening heart condition.
After eventually arriving in the UK, they wrote a book to share their story.
Director Amit Sharma picked it up and has been telling Paul why he felt compelled to turn it into a West End show which is on until the 12th November.
