‘Different Times’: The new book claiming ‘they don’t make comedy like they used to’

Looking at the role comedy plays in todays society and the fine line comedians can often draw between the funny and the serious, British author and journalist David Stubbs has written a book exploring the topic.

He claims ‘they don’t make comedy like the used to’.

The book is called ‘Different Times – a History of British Comedy’, and it’s out today.

It looks at the superstars that were in on the gags, the unsung heroes from behind the scenes and those who ended up being the butt of the joke.

James caught up with him in the studio.
