George Orwell’s 1984 turned into an immersive experience in Hackney
George Orwell’s novel 1984 has been turned into an immersive experience at Hackney Town Hall.
The book looks at surveillance and control and what could happen if the government took full control. The dystopian storyline now sees a group of actors inviting theatregoers to witness a ‘Ministry of Truth’ open day and then world their way through the townhall to interact with the various character in the story.
Simon has been speaking to Jude Akuwudlike who plays a ‘Ministry of Truth’ official to talk about the event which is on until the 26th of November.
