Miss Caribbean UK says beauty pageants are more than skin deep

After being crowned Miss Caribbean UK last year, Samara Telesford is hoping to inspire more young woman in the UK to gain confidence.

The dental hygiene student strives to break down barriers within education and professional occupations where young black women in the UK are especially under-represented in leadership roles.

With a specialised carnival costume round, the event aims to recognise the influence and impact that the Caribbean Diaspora has had on UK culture.

Applications for this year’s edition of Miss Caribbean UK close next month.
