New film tackling mental health in elite football
A new film tackling the issue of mental health in top level football has arrived in select cinemas across the capital.
‘Tigers’ tells the true story of Martin Bengtsson, a promising young Swedish footballer who was given a contract at Italian side Inter Milan when he was 16, only to leave after suffering from depression before retiring aged just 19 in 2005 as a result of his mental health issues.
He’s since become a journalist and has spoken about the broad issues of mental health in elite football, as there is still a lot of work to do across the board.
