New theatre show ‘Unseen Unheard’ shines light on breast cancer stories of Black women
A new theatre production in Peckham is seeking to shine a light on the untold breast cancer stories of Black women in the capital.
Called ‘Unseen Unheard’, it was commissioned by Gilead Sciences Ltd, but is the brainchild of Leanne Pero, the founder of Black Women Rising, a cancer support project for women from her community who feel side-lined when it comes to the representation of their illness in the mainstream.
Pero joined James to explain more about why she’s put the show together.
Unseen Unheard: The untold breast cancer stories of Black women in the UK runs until the 4th May at Theatre Peckham.
