‘Please be happy’ nominated for Best Documentary at the BFI Future Film Festival

Ahead of next weeks BFI Future Film Festival Awards we have been speaking to some of the London talent nominated for an award.

Today we spoke to Elif Gönen the filmmaker behind ‘Please be happy’ which has been nominated for Best Documentary.

Growing up as a queer woman in Turkey she’s worked to turn oppression into an obsession, displaying complex dynamics aligned with her experiences.

This film in particular looks at parenthood through a queer lens. Henry has been speaking to Elif.
