The UK’s largest festival celebrating Arabic artists returns to London

The UK’s largest festival celebrating the arts from the Arab world has arrived in London for 2 weeks.

From artists and poets, textile workshops to theatre, and interpretive dance to music and film, Shubbak is the largest biennial festival of contemporary Arab culture in the country and is taking over venues big and small in pockets all round the capital.

In a bid to platform the shows for absolutely everyone, festival organiser Alia wants everyone to come regardless of their own creed or culture and is even offering a free ticket scheme for those who can’t afford it. We spoke with her about the challenges putting on cultural events like hers during a cost of living crisis.

The festival is on until the 6th July and for a look at the incredibly dense programme of shows and events check it out here.
