‘Vanya is Alive’ at the Camden People’s Theatre
A new play coming to the ‘Camden People’s Theatre’, called ‘Vanya is Alive’ written by a Russian scriptwriter and performed and directed by people with Ukrainian heritage.
Some of the artists involved left Russia for fears of suppression and lack of freedom of speech.
The story follows the mother of a Russian soldier who struggles to comb through state propaganda and lies in the search for her missing son.
Tanya spoke to the plays director Ivanka who spoke about how the production has forced them to face difficult questions and also gave them the courage to answer them.
