Actress Juliet Stevenson expresses concerns with refugee bill
MPs will vote this evening on the Nationality and Borders Bill with the government likely to face a rebellion over several amendments.
Ministers argue the legislation will create a firm but fair process for asylum and immigration.
Critics have described it as barbaric with a rule to offshore refugees to overseas processing centres on the cards.
MPs are expected to vote on a string of amendments this evening, with numerous rebellions being co-ordinated by former Chief Whip and International Development Secretary Mr Mitchell.
The actress Juliet Stevenson has been among those lending her voice to concerns over the bill as part of the Together With Refugees movement.
She has been speaking to Anthony about why she’s involved.
