Calls for more live performances in the capital to be captioned

A fresh call for more online and live performances to be captioned comes after research shows nearly 7 out of 10 Londoners struggle with their hearing. The research is by Stagetext, who provide captioning and subtitling for events. Following a surge in the use of captions during lockdown, the charity want to encourage more outlets to get involved and increase access to the arts for deaf audiences. Tanya spoke to the CEO of the charity and Oli who is deaf and works for the charity.

If you would like any more information you can head to their website. They also have a free exhibition on at the Barbican Centre celebrating 21 years since the first ever captioned performance in the UK.
