Met police say number of hours officers spend attending to mental health calls ‘cannot continue’

The Mental Health Charity MIND has called on the Metropolitan police to think carefully about the timing of their decision to stop attending to all mental health emergency calls from September.

They say time is needed put new ways of working in place.

The comments come after reports were confirmed that from August 31st, Metropolitan police will stop responding to emergency calls relating to mental health issues unless there is an immediate threat to life.
