New play Dual puts spotlight on Iran’s political troubles and personal identity following death of Mahsa Amini

It’s been one year since 22-year-old Iranian Mahsa Amini died after morality police arrested her in Tehran, sparking widespread protests and a government crackdown.

This past weekend saw continued protests World to mark the anniversary including here in the Capital.

Actor Peyvand Sadeghian whose new play Dual centres around the personal story of being a dual Iranian national and of the experience of being held in Iran aged 10 with her father.

Peyvand also joined an Amnesty ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ Campaign this last weekend and she spoke to our programme about the play and the ongoing political issues.

 

Dual is on now at Camden People’s Theatre from September 19-24
