‘Sappho’ play depicting the life of the original lesbian comes to Southwark Playhouse

For those who may not know, Sappho an icon for her poetry- was one of the first feminists and lesbians in existence with the words ‘sapphic and lesbian originating from her name and home island of Lesbos. A new production at the southwark playhouse explores The love that she professed for women in her poetry that could not be erased, despite the efforts of multiple generations since the 6th century; she remains the lesbian icon as Georgie, who plays the titular character of Sappho explained…
