Shedding a light on stories from survivors of modern slavery
Causeway, The London based charity supporting those who have been a victim of modern slavery in this country have launched a special campaign for the festive period.
With over 100,000 people affected in the UK, ‘Rewriting Christmas’ sheds light on stories from a handful of survivors, who fell victim to the exploitation.
It can take many forms but sees those trapped, forced from a young age into free or coerced labour, often in the form of gang related crime.
Having escaped the clutches of their exploiters – the trauma stays and Christmas can be an incredibly triggering time for them, evoking memories of a time when they couldn’t celebrate and enjoy the period like so many of us do.
