Frans Hals and Hawala: The Art Review

On this week’s Art Review James meets the director of the Wallace Collection as the gallery hosts the first-ever exhibition dedicated to the male portraits of Frans Hals.

The blockbuster surrounds The Laughing Cavalier with close to a dozen other paintings of the male friends who sat for the Dutch Golden Age master.

James also explores the new showcase at Paradise Row, Hawala, a group exhibition exploring the parallels between the South Asian trust and ledger-based money exchange system and blockchain technology.
