Croydon Council makes special position to deal with FGM sufferers
In 2019 Croydon Council appointed its first ever position designed to deal with the issue of Female genital mutilation. A specialist has begun work focussing on young girls in the borough who have been affected by the crime. In the 2 years leading to August 2019 the local authority says it had received 122 referrals from individuals or families about FGM, and it estimates more than 3,000 women and girls living in the borough had been affected. James Dickman spoke to the council to find out more.
If this is an issue that worries you – you can look to croydon council’s website or search FGM on the NHS web page where you can find all the details and help on offer.
