Kumihimo: the ancient art of Japanese braiding displayed at Japan House

A new exhibition exploring the ancient art of Japanese braiding has arrived in the capital.

Called Kumihimo which translates to joining threads together it’s known for using vibrant colours and intricate patterns.

The exhibition showcases more than 50 handmade braids from Domyo, a workshop in Tokyo.

We went down to speak to Simon Wright, the director of Japan House where the showcase is being held.

The exhibition is on at Japan House until June.
