Meet the Londoner representing the UK at the World Gelato Championships

Nearly everyone has heard of the football world cup but we’re pretty sure you didn’t know there was a tournament for ice cream.

London holds claim to one of the UK finalist’s at the World Gelato Championships which starts today in Bologna.

Having picked up nicknames like Willy Wonka and the Ice Man, he only goes with the one name – Taseer.

Due to Covid, the competitors will not be flying to Bologna, instead sending their ingredients to Italy with a list of instructions for a team of Gelato makers to follow with the whole event live streamed.

I went down to his shop in Dulwich to learn more about the Championships, and the flavour he hopes to win with.

The World Gelato Championships kicked off today with Taseer the last one to compete tomorrow.
